ADVANCE in Term 2

As always, the ADVANCE Program was very busy in Term 2. Students continued building on their water safety and swimming skills at both the Northcote and Ivanhoe Aquatic Centres for the first six weeks of Term. It was wonderful to see students improving their confidence in the water as well as developing transferrable skills that they can use in varied aquatic environments.

The students really enjoyed fitness sessions taken by a personal trainer at Northcote Aquatic Centre for four weeks. They were challenged with a range of activities from cycling, boxing, cardiovascular fitness as well as weight training. This is the first time that students had tried the personal training sessions to improve their fitness.

The term culminated by a celebration at Latitude Air in Heidelberg followed by a BBQ lunch and activities at All Nations Park. The students loved the trampolining, rock climbing and personal challenge games offered at Latitude Air. This term we are working on developing/continuing a First Aid qualification as well as volunteering to weed, mulch and plant trees at the Merri Creek near CERES.
